Keystone Oaks Area Soccer Club
Please come to a meeting of concerned
persons to discuss the direction we want to go with KOA Soccer Club.
I have scheduled for 5-10 Saturday @ 10am
@ Green Tree Municipal Bldg. Birch Room - enter from rear parking area - room
beyond the council meeting room. Please let me know if you will attend. If you
can not attend, please give your opinion on the below issues or any other you
want.
I have set up this meeting as requested
by some coaches to discuss 3 issues below. We need to very soon put on our
web site:
www.koasocer.com how we want to structure our Fall 08 session. Discussion
beyond these 3 items are welcome.
1) Do we want to continue the experiment
of hosting In-House Program up to u12. I started the experiment as a method to
interest more kids in Travel Program when I saw declining enrollment and
inability to enroll enough players for Travel Program in ages u10,11,12. We have
had a u12 In-House League in Fall sessions 05 on Sunday afternoons and Fall 06
on Saturday mornings. It has been fun and decent number of players played, but
the goal of gaining Travel players from it has been limited. We wonder weather
we are doing more harm than good with this program. John McGrath would like to
explain why it is doing harm. The prime alternative would be to go back to
pre-experiment for Fall Session of u10 offering both In-House Saturday and
Travel Sunday with all ages above u10 offering only Travel program.
2) We would like to further include
Castle Shannon Players in the KOA programs. We have had various degrees of
success that over the years. We have Shannon players on most of the older Travel
teams and a new u12 all Shannon team managed by Diane Lasko. It has been spotty
getting full integration before High School and Middle School. We would like to
get better integration in the whole Travel Program starting at u10 Travel. Maybe
we could start this fall with the u10 In-House Program playing Saturday games
between teams from and at fields of all 3 Boros.
3) KO High School Boys Coach Mike Gardner
has expressed an interest in bring the School and Club programs closer together.
We have had varing success with that over the years. We see many Clubs
benefitting by close cooperation and would like to have a very cooperative
environment in that effort. Mike has talked about doing camps over this summer
for all ages. Hopefully he can attend and / or we can get those scheduled and on
the website.
